About Francesco Bilotta

This is just one big page where I write about myself, without needing it to be useful.

Timeline

  • 2014–2016. Middle school, and no map.
I taught myself to build things. No course, nobody to ask.
I built a working virtual-reality headset from scratch.
Unity and Unreal crashed on anything 3D, so I moved to Godot.
I wired the hardware with Arduino.
The Windows serial driver I needed did not exist, so I wrote my own.
I built an 8-bit CPU by hand, wire by wire, and a graphics engine in C++.
Everything I needed was in English: university PDFs, Google, YouTube.
    I hated the language.
I learned it anyway, because the answers were only there.
Yes, I was a bit curious.
  • 2016–2021. High school, and much more than high school.
I graduated from a technical high school: mechatronics, robotics, automation.
In the summer of 2018, at sixteen, I was hired as a full-stack developer.
From then on I always worked as a developer in my free time.
I learned Japanese to a B1-B2 in three years.
Enough to follow films and read manga.
    Then German (a strong B1) and French (a B2) by 2021.
I also read far outside school.
Marketing and business first, then psychology, sustainability, history, philosophy, theology.
Anything I could get my hands on.
  • 2021. University, and work alongside it.
I studied Management Engineering at the University of Parma.
My first corporate developer job had just ended (Ferrari Group).
    For a while I worked part-time at a McDonald's near campus.
Then I went back to engineering, in remote teams, mostly on the blockchain side.
A ticketing marketplace and a betting dApp at Dreamnet.
University ran through all of it. I still taught myself most of what mattered.
  • 2023. Architect, then Tech Lead.
A large real-estate agency franchise, now HouseTree S.p.A.
They hired me as their IT architect.
I was their first and only in-house engineer.
After twenty years of vendor lock-in.
    I inherited a twenty-year-old management system.
Two weeks from being switched off, with no backups.
In 2026 I became Tech Lead of the group.
    Then I led the migration.
I rebuilt the system module by module, with zero downtime.
  • 2025. Cocreiamo.
I started freelancing on the side.
Then I founded Cocreiamo, with many dead ideas along the way.
It is what I was looking for at sixteen, reading everything I could find.
A Christian way of doing business.
I want to become a spiritual entrepreneur. I am not one yet.

Off the keyboard

I used to practise Jiu-Jitsu. I want to start again.

In my free time, I like experimenting with technology.
